The realm of dreams

Soft as a feather

And bright as the sunshine

She had dreams in her heart,

And sadness in her eyes.

She was wild and fierce,

She loved to break rules

But such was her fate,

That she had only her shackles to call her own!

All tied & tangled in chains

That dark corner was her home now!

They say that you can tie the hands ,

But not the mind.

And so, in that dark room,

She let her mind wander free!

She dreamt of going out there,

Running in the fields!

One day, she heard a voice,

Right outside the window

In the darkness & silence,

She could hear him very clearly,

He was singing,

In his beautiful voice!

She sat there listening,

Till he sang his heart out!

Maybe it was God’s way,

Of telling her to never lose hope!

Or maybe it was just a moment,

But how could she let it go?

In his voice, she found solace

He sang about love,

About life and its meaning,

And she found herself dreaming!

She felt beautiful from within,

It was new feeling!

It gave her the strength to try,

To break free and enjoy!

She wanted to experience everything,

Bonding, smiling, enjoying, and thinking,

About all the love that she was deprived of!

Now the fight was between the heart & the mind

Her values held her tight,

& her heart pestered her to break all the shackles!

Such was the urge,

Stronger than ever,

That she rushed forward to touch him

As if the wall wasn’t there!

In her imagination,

She was already out there,

Happy & alive!

But the next moment broke the spell,

The wall hit her hard

And she was brought back,

To the life,

That had just darkness all around!

“Stay quiet”, she told her heart.

She knew she didn’t have any choice,

The darkness was real and so were the shackles.

This was the life she had chosen,

And this was her truth!
