When the days are dark & the nights are long

Someday, it will all come back to normal. But that ‘some’ day doesn’t seem to be very near. This pandemic is showing us new ways of changing our lifestyle, our work - style, rethink all the decisions we made for ourselves, relive all the  long-forgotten memories and what not!  However, one of the most important things it has taught us, in a rather harsh manner, is to be adaptable to change.  Living in a fast-paced world, most of us were living a life where we had no time to pause & think.    Hurt a friend ? “Time will heal everything” Missed attending grandparents’ funeral ? “Didn’t they always teach us that work was more important?”   No time for kids? “ They’ll learn to live this way- they are sma rt & independent kids after all” Been 15 days since you  last spoke with your parents?  “They understand that life is hectic these days”   We were so busy is running this race that there was a whole bunch of  millennials who felt ther...

Loud whispers of the silent souls

Image
The grasses were greener today, The leaves seemed to happier than ever Swaying with the cadence of the wind Dancing to the tune of the breeze The wobbly stems seemed to have found new strength Rejuvenated, re-energized Today they were holding the leaves tighter than ever, not letting them fall!  “I’ll be your strength forever”, said the stem, finally muttering the words that the leaves had waited desperately to hear! What could’ve made them happier..! They smiled and danced with all their might The cool breeze blew faster, whispering to the leaves, “Overwhelmed I am, for having met your vibrant self, Fresh, full of life, you look beautiful today!” “Thank the rains, O’ dear, For it did what the sun, the moon, the earth and the wind couldn’t do; It brought life back in us ”, replied the leaves.

Think of that moment and "feel" the presence of love!

When the relationship between two people gets stabilized, when you’re sure about each other and once that “struggle” part is over, there comes a time when   you get so engrossed in your daily chores that you actually forget to admire the beauty of the other person… the thing that differentiates that someone from others and the quality that made you fall in love with them! Honesty, beauty, innocence, simplicity, whatever it was that made your heart skip a beat! And then one fine day, while maybe watching a movie, or reading a book, some scene would remind you of a time in your life when you probably were “together” only in your dreams & not in reality.  When you had the time and will to see the beauty of the person. When you spent hours simply thinking about that person…and when probably nothing was so stable as today. When you were so much in love and when you used to ask God never to end the moment that you spent with them. The moment would make you smile,...

"The White Tiger" A note to the author

I read a lot of novels, work of fiction mainly, but it’s not that I write a review of each and every book that I read. In fact, this is the first time I’ve got myself to write a book review. I had to do this, I thought right after I completed reading ‘The White Tiger’ by  Aravind   Adiga  yesterday at about 7:30PM.  It is not that the writer or the name of the book was new to me. I guess every Indian, who is into reading or writing, even a little bit of it; has heard about this book at least once in their life. Even those who are not must have heard the name ‘the white tiger’ somewhere or the other.  I am not very fond of reading books that have been awarded the ‘MAN BOOKER PRIZE’. I don’t know the reason why, but I never find such books interesting. So why did I end up reading this book? Because over the last 5 years, I’d heard a lot of praises of the book from people who I trust, in their choice I mean. So there I was, on the 29 th  of March, se...

Short Meetings with GOD

Image
It is only in one moment that God tells us what he wants from us and what we should be doing in life. It can be about love, it can be work, life partner or even your inner soul.  His way of communicating his will to us is slightly different. He never makes decisions for us. He gives us choices and keeps all the options right in front of us, and then makes us feel really good about something that we cannot even comprehend having, ever! That’s when we have to make a choice and select one of the options. The choice determines and defines our future. At one moment, you’ll know that this is what you want and you want it from all your heart. Let the moment pass and the feeling will be gone. Then you’ll have a doubt whether that was your imagination or something that God had signaled? I believe God signals something for a short moment (maybe milliseconds) and the feeling that you get at that moment is strong enough to make you forget all the apprehensions and all the w...

The Path To Happiness

Image
He paced through the corridors of the hospital, finding his way in the crowds, crossing everyone and not once stopping to see the people around. He had been late, even today and for the first time ever, he was feeling really nervous. He had been thinking about this moment for the past few months and even though he had no role in the whole process, whenever he thought about it, there was a gut that formed somewhere on the inside and made him feel nauseous. He had imagined this moment hundreds of times and he had experienced a mixed feeling: happiness, love, expectation and excitement. But today was different. It was the day they had both waited for the past 9 months. His mind was all cluttered. There were a thousand thoughts running in his mind. At this point, all he wanted was to reach by her side. He wanted to be present there. He knew that she was going to bear all the pain, but he knew that if he is by her side, she'll feel protected. Besides, he wanted to be t...

Queen: The modern face of Indian women

All the status updates and reviews of Queen movie literally compelled me to watch the movie. So as I started with the movie, I told myself that by the end of it I’ll have something really good to remember. But I found the first few scenes to be very weird! We Indians are too bored with the usual boy-breaks-a-girl’s-heart thing! It’s quite usual in India, especially in the case of marriage, to see a girl crying over a boy! Well, we all know that wounds get healed with time and of course I expected the same to happen to her! I didn’t show much of interest in the movie and I found it quite disheartening that people had started loving this kind of story! I don’t remember what interested me most, but I kept glued to the Laptop throughout the movie. I kind of started liking the way it had been represented. The girl, the simple , sanskari Indian girl was learning to live! Not a single thing shown in the movie is unreal! Rani, the protagonist, cries remembering that he was there t...
